FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Here are a few of our most frequently asked questions. If you have any additional questions, please reach out to us at [email protected] and we will assist you shortly.
What students do you work with?
The demographics of the students we work with in our outreach programs include underserved, immigrant, refugee, and English as a Second Language students. Our volunteers have the opportunity to teach students in kindergarten through 12th grade.
Why should I become a volunteer?
Our organization strives to provide a quality education for all. With that said, we are constantly looking to expand our reach and serve more students. By becoming a volunteer with our organization, you'll learn indispensable skills through tutoring others. We welcome all middle and high school students who are interested in furthering our mission to aid youth! If you're interested in joining the team, please fill out this form.
I'm still not sure if I want to join. How can I learn more about the organization?
No problem! If for any reason you're on the fence regarding joining our team, we'd love for you to come to a Volunteer Orientation meeting. To sign up, fill out the Prospective Volunteer Form and we'll contact you shortly. Our programs are also very flexible—at any point during the academic year, if you're unable to continue volunteering, send us and email and we'll accommodate your schedule.
When are your meeting dates and times?
ÉXITO Outreach typically meets monthly or twice a month on weekends to update the team on new volunteer opportunities, upcoming fundraisers, and more. We do our best to select a meeting time when most volunteers are available, but if you're unable to make it to a meeting, we send out meeting notes and/or recordings after each meeting.
When are your volunteering dates and times?
Our volunteering slots depend on the outreach program you're interested in working with. For online one-on-one tutoring sessions, we find a time according to you and your student's schedule. Sessions during the academic year will typically be after school (after 3:00PM Pacific Daylight Time) and throughout the day on weekends. Once our plans for the 2021-2022 year are finalized, we'll send out more information!
What's a typical online one-on-one session like?
Our online sessions are usually an hour long and hosted via Zoom. If you are working with one of our partner organizations (Casa de Amistad, etc.), there will be a verified adult supervising the meeting. Other sessions will be recorded to ensure both student and volunteer safety. Volunteers will be able to choose what subjects and grade levels they are comfortable with teaching.
How are volunteer hours tracked?
Since we have numerous outreach programs and volunteers from all over the world, we ask that volunteers keep track of their own hours in a spreadsheet and confirm their hours by emailing us or pinging us in our Discord server.
How can I support ÉXITO Outreach if I'm not a volunteer?
We highly appreciate all donations and sponsorships! All of our proceeds will go toward aiding underserved students and their families at the nonprofit organizations we work with. Please visit our Get Involved tab for more!
Can I start an ÉXITO Outreach chapter in my community?
Thank you so much for your interest! If you've volunteered with one of our programs for at least one semester (during the fall, spring, or summer), please email us with information about you and your credentials (either a transcript or resume works).
How can I discuss a partnership or start an outreach program with ÉXITO Outreach?
We'd love to chat with you! Partnerships may include co-hosting workshops or camps, cross-promotion, starting fundraisers, and much more. Email us at [email protected] with information about you, your team, and what you'd be interested in!
